Starting the New Year on a budget

I’ve decided I need to use a budget tool this year to help manage my rather messy finances. I’ve started using the trial version of YNAB which I like a lot so far. Has anyone out there used this? Or are there other options that you might recommend? Go, go budget software and such…

I tried it, wasn’t a big fan, but it’s all what works for you. If you are a fan of this system I highly suggest The Tital Money Makeover. If you can get beyond the heavy handed Jesus-ness of the book, it’s big on the assigning your dollars idea, worth a – very quick – read.

I’ve read a little bit of that book. Some good stuff. Definitely big on Jesus, but in fairness he’s not pushy about it.

We are YNAB fans. It requires some conceptual shifts in thinking; not another version of the same. And then you get it! And it works! Stick with it.
PS: love the dutch oven- jealous.

Yeah. I really like it so far. It does force you to take a look at where your money goes in a very different way. I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those things I feel stupid for not having done years ago.
