Exercise can be tricky

Earlier today I finished up the final run of my second week of the Couch to 5k training program (I highly recommend it). I’ve been and on-again/off-again sort of runner since August of 2010, and I debated whether or not I should start from scratch this time or just attempt to get back up to speed more quickly with longer runs. In the end I decided to do the whole thing for now the second time because the one thing it adds that running three times a week aimlessly does not are specifics. It tells you how much to run and for how long on every day of the program, and I like that. I don’t have to think about what to do next, so it’s easier to simply go out and do it.

It’s working so far exactly as I hoped it would so far, but after I finished my run today I found myself in a little bit of pain… just underneath my right shoulder. This makes no sense to me considering I didn’t know you could strain your shoulder running, and yet the soreness is there. Well, tomorrow is a rest day according to the plan. I’ll be doing just that, and hopefully I’ll feel better on Monday.
