To blog, or not to blog (in the manner in which I am currently blogging)

March 2, 2012

I’m thinking of taking the blog in a bit of a different direction. Right now, I’m basically just ranting or writing out random thoughts (including this); but I think that if this blog is to be my “home base” on the internet when it comes to my writing career I should limit what I post here to thoughts and ideas more relevant to that career. Or, at the very least, post more about writing in general and my writing in particular. I’m pondering these things now, and will let you know what I decide. Feedback would be great too, so that I might know what people are actually interested in reading about when they stop by. Thanks!

This is something I have frequently considered but I always come back to the same answer. I blog about writing and reading and the bits inbetween. Who we are and our thoughts about EVERYTHING is what shapes us as writers, we want our readers to engage with us, so therefore me must give a little of who we are beyond the text.

I have posted somethings that I do wish I hadn’t now, so I am not saying we should be totally uncensored, but off topic is good.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I just feel that my little corner of the web can get a little disjointed at times. It’s not necessarily bad, but I would rather it be slightly more coherent.

I think it definitely comes down to personal choice, I just know from experience that any kind of restriction blocks my creativity as a whole. I would rather blog randomly, than not at all – or worse, be blogging and it being a chore!

You could always start multiple blogs and link them in tje menu bar. 😉 🙂 It may benefit your creativity to have a blog set aside for random thoughts or even different genres if your versatile. 🙂
