Of Tinkers and Tailors, etc., etc.

January 28, 2012

We went to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy today and I, for one, liked it a lot. Some of the criticisms I’ve seen leveled at it are valid – it’s a bit slow and can be hard to follow – but the acting talent is on a level not often seen in film today, and for that reason alone it’s worth a viewing. Gary Oldman in particular has long been one of my favorite actors, and his performance in this film may finally earn him the Oscar that he’s deserved for years now.

Seeing the movie has also made me want to read the book by John le Carre even more. If for no other reason than to clear up the grey areas that the film seems to purposefully dangle out there for us to be confused by.
