Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2011

It is, I think, a unique feature of working in retail that Christmas Day is actually a day when most of us don’t want to wake up early and rush to open the presents under the tree. In fact, it’s more like we don’t want to wake up at all. And yet here I am on a train at 6am traveling to pick up my daughter. I don’t want to be awake, but I am glad to be getting a break from the last month of the busiest holiday I’ve ever seen in the book business. Anyone who worries about bookstores should have spent some time in mine this December. Trust me, we’ll be fine.

That said, now that the holidays are almost over, I plan to get back to the blog in a serious way. Sorry for just sort of abandoning it like I did. But we got busy early in the season at work, and I simply didn’t have the energy for much else. I’ll be posting a few more times this week, and plenty more after the New Year.

So I’ll leave you today and see you again soon. Merry Christmas to all of you! I’m going to try and get some more sleep on this train while I have the chance.
