The science of firing pumpkins from cannons is my favorite kind of tradition

November 23, 2011

I’m watching the Science Channel as I write this. It’s one of the few stations that still more or less lives up to its name. The History Channel has almost no history on it at all – it’s as if they’re trying to redefine the word. National Geographic has basically become the crime channel. And then there’s MTV. I need say nothing more.

In any case, tomorrow on the Science Channel is an annual Thanksgiving tradition – Punkin’ Chunkin’. Can’t wait. I love it when gourd-like squash and engineered mechanical physics combine. It’s better than pumpkin pie. There I said it.
