If I put up signs, could I win an election?

November 8, 2011

Today was election day, and everywhere I went I saw signs for local candidates. I have to wonder though, how effective is that course of action? I mean really. Who’s influenced by signs?

I can’t see anyone ever saying, You know, I was going to vote for that guy; but this other candidate has a GREAT sign.

This is not me being sarcastic, by the way. I really want to know. Do signs really equal votes? How could we quantify that? I look at them in the same way I do televisions ads. Which is to say that I sincerely believe they’re a total waste of money. I don’t think for an instant that people pay that much attention to them.

But what do I know?
