E.T. hasn’t phoned home… yet

November 30, 2010

NASA has called a press conference for 2pm this Thursday “to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life.” While it seems they won’t be announcing that extraterrestrial life has been found on Saturn’s moon Titan, I’m still pretty excited to see what they have to say. I’m curious about the religious view of this though. If (and I’ll submit that this is more of a when) life is discovered on another world, what does that mean for the supposed uniqueness of humanity? Religious groups are strangely silent on this topic, which is odd considering how often they want to get involved in other scientific discussions.
